Whereas under the Montessori System, every child is treated with respect, given freedom within limits, and is allowed to develop naturally at his or her own pace. The classroom is prepared to encourage the child’s own natural desire to learn. Learning is encouraged by giving them the opportunity to be spontaneous and engage in meaningful activities under the guidance of a trained teacher.
Children are free to choose from the different sections around the classroom and are encouraged to complete their chosen activity, working at their own pace. Through their work they develop concentration, motivation, persistence, discipline and a lifelong love of learning. By giving children the freedom of choice, movement, speech and opinion within a well-structured environment, they are eager to learn and become more independent and self-confident.
While academics play a role, we believe there are many other opportunities for enhancing the whole child. Hence, we teach children life skills that go beyond reading, writing and mathematics, such as playing with toys to help develop motor-skills and teach lessons about sharing with friends. Singing songs instills an interest in the arts while at the same time helps to forge social bonds.
Hence we aim to provide a balanced approach to learning, giving you peace of mind that your child will have fun as they develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
